Some news today about discounts. Who doesn’t love a discount? For me, discounts are as good as a delicious treat! So delightful and such a bonus! Anyhow, back to the discount… Fannie Mae is providing a 3.5% discount to those purchasing a real-estate owned property listed as part of its HomePath division, as stated in www.housingwire.com . Properties that go back to the bank after an unsuccessful auction are Real-estate owner properties (also known as REO).
What can this discount be used toward you are wondering? Good question, I was anxious to know too. The 3.5% discount can be used toward Mesa AZ Mortgage closing costs (and any other city) or your choice of appliances. Sometimes those types of expenses are overlooked or forgotten so this assistance is great! The discount is good until May 1, 2010. 
Their goal? “Attracting qualified buyers to the market and reducing the inventory of vacant homes is critical to stabilizing neighborhoods and helping the market recover,” said Terry Edwards, executive vice president of Fannie’s credit portfolio management, in a statement. “Many families are taking advantage of the federal homebuyer tax credit to buy a new home so this is a great time for Fannie Mae to offer some additional help.” (www.housingwire.com)
